About Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind which can be induced by concentration on a single idea or focus. In a therapeutic setting Hypnosis provides a powerful tool to access subconscious thought patterns and behaviours and resolve issues that are beyond the capabilities of the conscious mind.
The deep state of relaxation and solution focused awareness offers a perspective for new insights and understandings to develop with the skilful help and support of the Hypnotherapist. Beneficial changes are often achieved relatively quickly.
Modern Hypnotherapy utilises the techniques of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills, amongst others, and combines them with the trance state to assist people in making significant positive and beneficial changes, helping to resolve unwanted habits and thought patterns at a subconscious level.
What will I feel during Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is not sleep, it is a trance like state that you may be surprised to learn we experience several times a day. Perhaps you have driven along a familiar road and not remembered parts of the journey, or maybe you have been engrossed in a book or a film and haven't noticed when someone has called your name. If so, you were in a trance like state at the time!
During Hypnosis you will feel extremely relaxed and calm and aware of everything around you. It is an extremely pleasant and enjoyable state which is very similar to daydreaming.
A Hypnotherapist cannot make a person do anything they do not want to or that they morally object to. You cannot get stuck in Hypnosis and you can leave the state whenever you wish. You are in complete control at all times.
Hypnotherapy can help with the following:

Motivation
“Five months ago, I received a card through the post advertising hypnotherapy sessions, and at first I thought that it was more junk mail. Something caught my imagination, so I sat down and read the card with interest. The card was advertising all the sort of things that you would expect, stop smoking, lose weight, and so on. After all it was a lot easier to sit down with a cup of coffee, and read the card, than it was doing the jobs around the house that had been mounting up for months and months.
After a bit of thought I decided that what I really wanted was motivation. I am sure most people would say "Why don't you just get up and do the jobs that need doing"? Life is not always that easy! Anyway to cut a very long story short, I phoned Kim and I arranged an appointment the next week. I was a little nervous at first; the only thing that I knew about hypnotherapy was what I had seen on TV. People running around like headless chickens and so on. Nothing could have been further from the truth.
Kim made me feel relaxed and at ease right from the start. It became apparent that my problems were all centred on my weight. The last time that I went to the doctors and got my weight checked I was twenty seven and a half stone. The only advice that he gave me was to throw half my dinner in the bin. At the time I was annoyed at his suggestion. My wife and I left the surgery feeling very disappointed, but looking back I can see that he was right. Kim taught me how to say NO when my brain was saying eat me, so now when I see something that I really want to eat, I ask myself, do I really want to eat that, and if the answer is no, then I just say no to myself. As a result of this I have now lost just over five stone. One of Kim's favourite sayings is ‘little changes make a big difference’ and she is so right. As for motivation, the jobs around the house are getting done as they appear, and I feel so much better in myself. The differences are amazing. I would recommend Kim's hypnotherapy sessions to anybody.”

Self-Hypnosis for Childbirth
“I wanted to write to you to thank you for introducing me to self hypnosis. The guidance you provided helped me achieve the birth I wanted.
It all started with my waters breaking; contractions didn't start until a few hours later, although when they started they were instantly strong. I was able to control the feelings the contractions gave by focusing on preserving my energy. I strongly believe I was able to stay calm and do this from listening to your CD every day for the months leading up to this moment. I also used a birth ball to make my self more comfortable.
I remained calm throughout my labour, and stayed in my own home until I was 4.5cm dilated when I then went into Trowbridge birth centre. Once I had been examined, I then listened to the CD to help me remain focused as the contractions were getting much stronger. My labour was very fast and intense, and I did opt to use gas and air towards the end, but found I only needed to use this at the peak of each contraction.
My first child; Leon, was born at 7:58 in the morning after only 3.5 hours of active labour and 13 minutes of pushing. An outstanding result for my first baby of which I am incredibly proud. I do believe this was down to me feeling in control and calm throughout the experience.
Thank you again for helping me achieve a pleasant and very rewarding birth.”

Stop Smoking
“What can I say except thank you so much. I went to you in February 2010 and spent a couple of hours with you and I haven't touched a cigarette since. I haven't even had any withdrawal symptoms and not wanted one even when I have been under stress. After 30 years of smoking I never thought I would find it so easy to stop. Thanks again Kim, you saved my life.”
