Homeopathy
How does Homeopathy work?
Homeopathy, or homoeopathy, to give it its original spelling, involves the use of plants, animals, minerals and other substances. What makes these substances homoeopathic, is the careful process of dilution and succussion which releases the natural energy and removes the poisons and toxins that the original substance may contain. This process makes the substance safe for adults, children and animals to take, causing no side effects. There are approximately 3,500 remedies in use today.
Homoeopathy works by treating like with like. For example, if a healthy person were to eat berries from the plant belladonna (deadly nightshade) they could experience the following symptoms of high fever, great thirst, dilated pupils and wild delirium.
If someone has symptoms similar to these we would administer the homoeopathic remedy Belladonna which would stimulate the body's natural healing process, fighting off the disease picture, resulting in health and harmony. This is known as the simillimum.
Dating back to Hippocrates (born 450BC) homoeopathy as we know it today became firmly established in Europe in the late 18th century, primarily due to the work of Samuel Hahnemann.
What happens during a consultation?
During a consultation I will ask you a series of questions concerning your past health, illness, operations, symptoms of the disease you are experiencing and your family's health. It is important that you give an accurate assessment of your health situation, to enable me to prescribe you the remedy that is curative.
You may experience the return of old symptoms. This is called an aggravation and should not last for long. This shows the cure is taking place. The length of treatment is difficult to predict due to the individual nature of each person’s health history.

What have I helped?
With more than 20 years experience, I have met people with the following complaints
The name of the illness itself has a only small part to play in homoeopathy, as we treat the whole person, looking in detail at the symptoms that you are experiencing.
Homoeopathy works very well along side conventional medicine, so I will not be asking you to stop what medication you are taking.
