What is counselling?
Counselling provides you with the opportunity to explore your difficulties and experiences with someone who is trained to hear and understand without judging or advising. Counselling provides a safe environment where you can look at past and present issues and discover your own way to a brighter future.
Confidentiality
Counselling is confidential, however in extreme circumstances there are limits to the confidentiality that counselling can offer. These will be explained during the initial meeting, where you will be invited to express any concerns that you may have. For counselling to be effective you need to feel that you have found a counsellor who suits you. Your right to choose an alternative counsellor will be respected.
Is counselling for me?
There are many reasons for considering counselling: maybe you feel upset and overwhelmed by your thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviour? You could be suffering from anxiety, stress, depression, lethargy, insomnia or panic attacks. You may have suffered from trauma such as bereavement, abuse, illness, separation, redundancy or retirement?
Whatever the circumstances an initial meeting may help you to decide if counselling can assist you in choosing ways of moving forward.
